In 1978, Joan and Allen Hogge needed hospice support for their son, Marcus. Because of that need, a grassroots effort of dedicated volunteers formed Edmarc. Edmarc has been serving kids and families in the Hampton Roads area for over 40 years. From the North Carolina border up to and including the Peninsula, Edmarc nurses, social workers, bereavement counselors and volunteers have provided holistic, in-home care, alleviating hospital visits and providing unique comfort.
And now, we plan to serve even more families.

Every year, around 27,000 children are diagnosed with a life-threatening condition nationwide. Life changes forever for these children and families. Tests, hospital visits, and constant questions engulf their everyday life. For those in Hampton Roads, Edmarc is there to partner with them and provide support to help make their journey as comfortable as possible through these difficult realities. But there are still so many children and families that do not have the in-home support they deserve…
Current Service Area:
Chesapeake, Franklin, Hampton, Isle of Wight, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Smithfield, Southhampton, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, York

Expansion Area:
Charles City, Gloucester, James City, Mathews, New Kent, Williamsburg
Edmarc has an opportunity to expand its service area to Williamsburg, Gloucester, Mathews, and the surrounding counties, doubling our capacity to serve children and families who are in critical need of our services. While being the the first pediatric hospice in the nation, Edmarc would also be the first in this expanded area. Edmarc would provide unique in-home support to families who currently have no other alternative.

We need your help.
Families never receive a bill for any service Edmarc provides, alleviating stress and freeing up resources. This means providing support to families in this next chapter will not be possible without community support.
Help us provide Hope for the Journey by making this vision a reality.

“We have been overwhelmed by the support of the Hampton Roads community that has resulted in the expansion of Edmarc’s programs well beyond its roots in Suffolk. We are excited about further growth into the greater Williamsburg area.”
Allen Hogge, Marcus’ Dad
