What a month February has been for everyone in Hampton Roads! Despite the snowy weather, we have been very busy! We are excited to introduce a new member to the Edmarc Team. Abigail Gellene-Beaudoin is our new social worker! Abbey is no stranger to Edmarc, she has been a volunteer of Edmarc’s and more importantly, Edmarc took care of one of Abbey’s dear friends during her battle with cancer!
On February 12th we held our 8th Annual Peninsula Friendraising Breakfast! It was a HUGE success! Thank you to everyone that came out and showed their support! We want to give a very special thank you to Peyton and her family for sharing their incredibly inspiring story! Also, to Amy Thorstad’s family and friends and of course the Kiwanis Club of Mercury 64 for putting on such an amazing event! Also a big thanks to Rob Cowling and Old Point National Bank, Bob Harper Photography, and Paradise Ocean Club for your continued love and support! Without the help of each and every one of you this event would not have been such a success!
We love having students who are conducting their internships at Edmarc. Sonja, a student from Norfolk State University has been interning at Edmarc for several months, she is working toward her MSW. We also welcomed Allison, who is working on her B.S. in Health Sciences from Old Dominion University and Joe, who is working on getting his B.S. in Healthcare IT from ECPI University; this month. We are excited to have you join the team!!!
We want to give a very special thank you to the folks from the Chisholm House that stopped by this month. The Chisholm House sponsored our Annual Day of Remembrance and we were honored to have them join us for lunch so we could thank them for everything they do for our Edmarc kids and families!
America’s Most Charitable Pub Crawl, the Ghent Winter Bar Tour, is back and celebrating its 10th year on Saturday, February 28th! Break out your costume boxes, because this year’s theme is “I Love Monster Movies!” Proceeds from this event benefit Edmarc Hospice for Children! Please join us on Saturday, February 28th! Every year we have individuals, churches, and organizations donate Easter Baskets for the children and siblings of Edmarc. On Saturday March, 28th from 12-4pm, volunteers throughout Hampton Roads deliver these baskets to our families’ homes. If you are interested in providing or delivering baskets, contact Kristen Jones at 757-967-9251 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Every year Edmarc holds their Annual Camp M.A.G.I.C. which is an acronym for My Active Grief Instills Courage. This Camp is for any of our bereaved Edmarc families and our Peace by Piece families to attend. It is a chance for them to remember their loved ones; cry, laugh, and come together as a family. Check out our 2014 video! Special thanks to Lovell Productions for capturing the footage and an amazing volunteer for creating the video! Hope you enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSNMhjbvMBI
