What’s Happening at Edmarc

April has been a very busy month at Edmarc, we had number of family events, fundraisers, and even a swing dedication. We celebrated Easter with our Edmarc families at our Annual Spring Fling!  There was a bounce house, Chick-Fil-A tasty treats, face painting, arts and crafts, games, and hundreds of colorful candy filled eggs for our kids and families to enjoy.  The Easter Bunny, Wags- the Edmarc mascot and even the Chick-Fil-A cow made a special appearance to see all of the kids! We then transformed our office into the Easter Bunny’s headquarters; with the help from our wonderful volunteers we were able to hand deliver customized Easter baskets for each of our kids this month.

Without the help of the community we would not be able to provide Edmarc families with the care they deserve.  So, we want to give a special thanks to the Poquoson Kiwanis club that provided Edmarc with a generous gift this month; thank you so much to all the members of the club for your continued support, it means the world to us!

We were recently introduced to the Dominion Derby Girls who are a roller derby league right here in Hampton Roads.  They held an event to help raise money and awareness for Edmarc.  Thank you Derby Girls.  It was a blast!!!

The International Order of the Blue Goose, Tidewater Puddle held their Annual Golf Tournament at the Riverfront Golf Course on April 11th benefitting Edmarc.  The day was gorgeous; perfect for golfing!  Just wanted to thank Butch Beckman and all of the Tidewater Puddle members for putting on a great tournament!  You continue to help raise money and awareness for Edmarc and we truly appreciate it!

There is a new relationship beginning with Edmarc and Christopher Newport University’s Women’s Softball Team.  They will be teaming up on of our kids and their family who will be adopted by the team.  Stay tuned for exciting happenings…it’s going to be a great ride!!!

There is one more HUGE thank you we need to give and that is to the Wilbert family!  Their son Dillon is working toward his Eagle Scout and a big part of it was planning and executing Wheelchair Accessible Wooden Glider Swing.  We dedicated it on April 12th in loving memory of his big brother Matthew and placed it on the grounds of Edmarc.  Dillon we are honored you chose Edmarc and excited to have a swing that will allow every child the chance to swing.  Thank you Dillon, you are AMAZING!!!

Right around the corner is the Gosport Arts Festival on Mother’s Day weekend!  Come out to Olde Town Portsmouth and enjoy great local musicians, food, and amazing artwork.  We even have a kids’ area so they can play and maybe even create a special gift for their Mom.  So come on our, enjoy the fun and support Edmarc!!
