What a busy month November has been for Edmarc! We had a number of speaking engagements, fundraising events, and some very special family events. Special thanks to our AMAZING volunteers for helping us make the month of November a little brighter for the kids and families of Edmarc.

Special thanks to our civic groups friends: Kiwanis Club of City Center Newport News and the Rotary Club of City Center Newport News for giving us the opportunity to share the good work of Edmarc. You all went above and beyond to ensure the children and their families were well taken care of for a Thanksgiving feast!

We also want to extend heartfelt thanks to The Kiwanis Club of Poquoson, The Pilot Club of Portsmouth and the Knights of Templar! Thank you so much for your generous donations; you all are a true blessing!10547202_10152813093316469_1869168363988393492_o

On November 9th, we held our Annual Day of Remembrance; a day that allows Edmarc’s bereaved families from across the Hampton Roads community and beyond to come together, remember and celebrate the lives of the children who have lost their battles. Special thanks to the Chisholm House Fund a component of the Southeast Virginia Community Foundation for underwriting the event along with friends from Hughes Florist, Saint John’s Episcopal Church, Eddie Nagle, Rocket Media and Western Branch Community Church for all you did to make this day one to remember.

We also spent the evening of November 12th with our friends of The Hampton Roads Claims Association. It was an opportunity to update the group on the impact their many contribution have made. And in true HRCA spirit, they presented Edmarc with a check to support our ongoing efforts. Heartfelt thanks to all of you!

We remembered Taylor Adkins, a brave little girl with a huge sense of humor. So it was only fitting that her Mom, Amy and their family and friends decided to celebrate her life with a comedy show that included motivational speaker/ funny guy Brett Leake. The event was a huge success…it raised $10,500.27 to support the good work of Edmarc. Sincere thanks to everyone who participated…the night was truly magical!

The hardships our families deal with on a daily basis are sometimes unthinkable to most. Being able to take family photos is often not an option. So, some very gifted volunteers stepped up to the plate and held a day of pampering, photography sessions for all and lasting memories for a lifetime. One mom said it best:
I would love to thank each and everyone of the wonderful people from today that made my wish come true…yes I have wished for a long time to be able to have a portrait with my three beautiful kids done and for years it didn’t happen…..today it happen but not only did I get a beautiful portrait I also got a makeover. I felt very special! THANK YOU so much from the bottom of my heart to you all and Edmarc, you guys are just awesome!

We made some new friends at First Team Kia after being the guest speaker for their United Way Campaign. We look forward to a long lasting friendship!10371927_10152829476076469_4918802515072371068_n

November 22nd marked 15 years of service for our Executive Director, Debbie Stitzer-Brame with Edmarc. Because of her, we continue to grow and improve the lives of each family who turns to Edmarc with a heavy heart. Debbie truly is the pillar of Edmarc. Her dedication and love is ever present. Her energy and enthusiasm is contagious. Her talent, spirit, and compassion are inspiring. Thank you so much…we love you!!!

On November 22nd with the help of our amazing community and volunteers we provided Thanksgiving baskets to over 80 families. Our families were eternally grateful; one family told our nurses they had given up on having Thanksgiving this year but, Edmarc made it possible. We owe a huge thank you to all of our sponsors, community leaders, and volunteers that made Thanksgiving possible!!!

GoLocal757 held an Olde Towne Holiday Wine Walk and the beneficiary was Edmarc. We are truly thankful for you all thinking of Edmarc!
