What Happened at Edmarc in September

September marks a change of season as we welcome in fall. Summer vacations are over, and it’s time to get back to work, back to school and back to routines. Here at Edmarc we’re gearing up for United Way campaigns, our 5th Annual Hope Gala and preparing for the busy months ahead.

One September tradition for Edmarc is United Way Day of Caring, a day established for United Way agencies and volunteers to join forces and make a difference in our community. Edmarc had three teams of volunteers going out to help our families, plus one group here at our building in Portsmouth on September 8th.

Did you know, Edmarc is a certified United Way agency? When you specify Edmarc through your local United Way Campaign, we receive needed funds for our program. Consider Edmarc this year during your workplace campaign; our staff and volunteers have been sharing our story with friends at Q.E.D. Systems, SunTrust, Southern Auto Group, USAA, the Virginia Department of Corrections and more!

When members of the Bayside Chapter of the Harley Owner’s Group put their resources and hearts together, they make a huge difference for Edmarc. On September 9th the 4th Annual Edmarc Poker Run raised $4,700! Thanks to all of the sponsors and Bayside Harley-Davidson, the chapter more than doubled the amount that they raised last year. Thank you Bayside HOG!

You do not want to miss our 5th Annual Hope Gala scheduled for Saturday, November 4th at the Granby Theater in Norfolk – the perfect venue for a masquerade theme. Highlights include an elegant silent auction, a high-end raffle, amazing food stations & cocktails and entertainment with 7th Street (the feature band) and Magical Solutions with Krendyl. Tickets are inclusive at $125 and table sponsorships are available too. You can purchase your ticket online (link) or call us for more information.

Our friends from the Millers Foundation dropped by for a visit to hear about the program they helped support in August – Camp M.A.G.I.C. Sara Zandford, our Bereavement Program Director, showed – with many amazing photos – just how meaningful it is for our families to spend a weekend supporting each other and remembering their loved ones.

Edmarc is so lucky to have support from many community organizations. The Portsmouth Pilot Club, Rotary Club of Great Bridge and Kiwanis Club of Downtown Hampton all supported us in September. Do you have a club or organization that would benefit from having a presentation from Edmarc? We love to share our story with others and let the community know about the wonderful things we are doing to help children and families in need.
