What Happened at Edmarc in August

We held our 21st Annual Edmarc Charity Golf Classic. The day of the tournament was picture perfect with a nice warm breeze for the full course of golfers who participated.   When it was all said and done, a check was presented to Edmarc for $35,000!  In 21 years, the Annual Charity Golf Classic has raised $500,000!

Edmarc celebrated hosted it’s annual family bereavement camp, Camp MAGIC. Camp MAGIC, which stands for My Active Grieving Instills Courage, provides a weekend for families to come together and share their memories and experiences with one another. This year 14 families joined in Chesapeake, Virginia, where we stayed at Triple R Ranch during the last weekend in August.

Throughout the weekend families took part in activities that promoted healing, connection, and allowed for them to share memories and experiences they had with their loved one. Families were also able to take part in a bunch of outdoor activities Camp MAGIC had to over, such as trail riding, laser tag, canoeing, and of course their wonderful petting zoo! We also had a fun time using colored water balloons to express our feelings, as a few may have “accidentally” hit our volunteer canvas holders. Our hope is that Camp MAGIC will continue to be a place where families can come together and share in the laughter, smiles, anger, and tears that we all experience along the journey of grief. We are extremely thankful for our Camp MAGIC sponsor, the Miller Oil Foundation as well as our volunteer photographers: Daniel Jarman, Daniel George, Barbara Sauder, and Jeanne Catalano. We also want to thank Sparrow Hayne for providing some amazing music during our camp fire and memorial ceremony, and Lauren Blanchard with Got Cureage for providing our camp t-shirts. Without them we would not be able to provide and capture the amazing experiences that Camp MAGIC provides.
