What Happened at Edmarc in October 2015

What a month October has been here at Edmarc!  From United Way Kick-Off Campaigns, to fundraisers, to fun-filled family events: our staff and volunteers have been hard at work all month long!

The United Way Kick-Off is well underway!  This month our staff and volunteers have been all over Hampton Roads speaking to employees and companies about the work that Edmarc is doing in the community.  Special thank you to our friends at United Way and all of the groups that have invited us to be a part of their Kick-Off!  We truly appreciate each and every one of you!

On October 9th supporters came together to celebrate DF0_4511updated (1)the many hearts that have provided hope for thousands of seriously ill children throughout Hampton Roads.  The Water Table at Fisherman’s Wharf provided the backdrop for what many called an unforgettable evening.  It was the excitement which filled the room as 200 guests engaged in conversation; the evening was nothing short of spectacular.  Local magician/ illusionist John Kingry captivated guests with his spellbinding acts of magic.   One of our founding families, Dr. and Mrs. Allen Hogge joined us and presented this year’s Hope Award recipients

The Honorable Judge Richard Bray & the Beazley Foundation and Q.E.D. Systems.  The emcee for the evening was none other than Morgan Davis of TowneBank who kept the evening flowing with great charisma, style, and grace.  Morgan said it best, “the night was a perfect balance of music, magic and DF0_4676updatedmixology”.

We enjoyed live music by Amy Kaus and Derek Smith and Six Stylez was our feature band.  The night was nothing short of impressive!  There are so many organizations and individuals that helped make this event so successful; we are pleased to announce that over $60,000 was raised!  Special thanks to Amy Folkes, our committee chair and the whole Gala committee for putting on a fabulous event.

On October 16th Granddad Noha and all of our Deep Creek Ruritan friends held their Annual Golf Tournament which benefits Edmarc.  Although there was a light drizzle, 33 teams came out to show their support!  We are so thankful for our dear friends and their continued support of our program!

On October 20th, The Miller Oil Foundation held their Annual Golf Tournament.  The Miller Oil Foundation has underwritten our Annual Camp M.A.G.I.C. (My Active Grief Instills Courage) for the last few years.  We are so thankful for the Foundation’s continued support and were honored to be a part of their tournament!
