What Happened at Edmarc in November 2015

View More: http://stellarexposures.pass.us/edmarcchristmasThe holidays are in full swing at Edmarc!  Our staff and volunteers have been nothing short of amazing; traveling all over Hampton Roads delivering Thanksgiving food baskets, doing United Way speaking engagements, and participating in fundraisers.

Edmarc was the beneficiary of two fundraisers this month.  Harbor Tower Apartments in Olde Towne Portsmouth held a Fall Bazaar and our good friends of Go Local 757 and O’Connor’s Brewery held a Meet the Brewer at Y Not Italian in Ghent!  Proceeds from both events will be used to support the good work of the agency!  Special thanks to everyone that participated and                                                                                                         put on these two great events!

We love celebrating our co-workers with food and fellowship at Edmarc; unfortunately we are so busy we have not had a chance to do this in a while.  So, we celebrated birthday babies during the months of June – November!  It was a great day; and without the help of some of our amazing volunteers who came to the office to answer the phones and the door, we would not have been able to have our luncheon.  We have the best volunteers ever!!!

New in the Foundation Board room is Tonya McKinney an account executive with New York Life and Dawn Holihan who is the Vice President/Branch Manager for TowneBank in New Town, Williamsburg.  We are very excited to have them join our volunteer leadership team!12273554_10153660033526469_6998406029209419375_o

Our staff was fortunate to have been asked to provide presentations to several organizations during the month of November.  Special thanks to the Rotary Club of City Center Newport News, The Beazley Foundation Board of Directors, AIT, and the Women’s Club of Portsmouth for inviting us to share with you the important work of Edmarc.

Our dear friends the Noha Family and the Deep Creek Ruritans presented Edmarc with a check for $8,500 which was raised during their annual golf tournament.  The tournament celebrates the life of their sweet little girl, Jenna Noha.  We are so thankful for everyone’s continued love and support!  Grandad and the rest of the Noha gang are near and dear to our hearts and we are forever thankful for all they do!

On November 21st, volunteers delivered over 80 Thanksgiving food baskets to Edmarc families all over Hampton Roads!  We want to give a special thanks to everyone who sponsored a family and volunteered their time to ensure the families had everything they needed for a great Thanksgiving meal!  It is because of your generous support that families had a Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings.  Thank you for thinking of others during this holiday season!

20151122_2D48809HwebIt was a day to remember on Sunday, November 22nd.  This is a day that Edmarc’s bereaved families from the Hampton Roads community and beyond come to remember and celebrate the lives of the children who have lost their battles.  This day is difficult for families and staff as we grieve those we have lost.  Edmarc’s bereaved parents and families are magnificent, and inspire us with their unconditional love, wisdom, and resilience.Kaleb Shumaker and sister Makenzie
