May has been the month of MANY! Activities that is… festivals, giving campaigns, and even golf tournaments!
So let’s start off with letting you all know that our average daily census or the number of children and families we are caring for this month in the clinical program has been 71, and the good news is we had 4 HEALTHY DISCHARGES! That means we had 4 children who were doing great and no longer needed our services! We also have 164 families receiving general bereavement support, 16 active bereaved families and 22 families enrolled in our outreach bereavement program, Peace by Piece.
We want to give a big shout out to our AMAZING volunteers that helped spread the word at the Newport News Children’s Festival on May 2nd. Thousands of individuals visited the Edmarc booth, kids played games and parents received information on the services we provide to the community. Our volunteers have been and continue to be the foundation of this agency. We are so blessed to have them. As the number of individuals needing our help increases so does the need for volunteers. So, please call Kristen if you are interested in volunteering at firstname.lastname@example.org
Special thanks to the Tidewater Officers’ Spouses’ Association who presented a check to Edmarc that will help provide care to our military families. On average, 30% – 40% of families we care for are military.
We also want to extend heartfelt thanks to Judge Bray and the Beazley Foundation for their continued support of Edmarc! We are eternally grateful for all their love and support. It is because of their generosity that we will continue caring for children with life threatening illnesses and their families. Thanks so much!!!
On May 5th through May 6th The Virginia Peninsula Community Foundation held its 2nd Annual Hampton Roads Day of Giving. During this 24 hour period, folks were encouraged to give locally to over 100 local Hampton Roads charitable organizations! Thanks to everyone’s support Edmarc raised over $1,000!
This Mother’s Day weekend marked the 45th Annual Gosport Arts Festival. It was a weekend full of fun for everyone! High Street was lined with amazing artists and a number of vendors; some of Hampton Roads finest musicians donated their time and provided the perfect background music for our patrons. We had a one-of-a-kind Children’s Area that included crafts, games, prizes, face painting, a clown, The Virginia Air and Space Museum, and even snakes! When it was all said and done, we raised almost $25,000 to support Edmarc’s mission! We could not have done it without the help of our AWESOME Committee Members and the countless volunteers who donated their time to make sure the festival was a success!
Special thanks to the Primrose School at Cahoon Commons, who held a Spring Fling on May 15th. 50% of the proceeds will benefit Edmarc. The event was great; we were thankful to be a part of it!
We also want to thank our volunteer leadership. On May 18th we held our 37th Annual Meeting that included both our Operational Board of Directors and the Foundation Board of Trustees! We’ve come a long way in 37 years. It is because of their superior leadership and direction that Edmarc is where it is today. Each has made a dramatic impact on the lives on the children and families. Many thanks to all!
Special thanks to The Tidewater Chapter of the CPCU for holding their annual golf tournament on May 19th with the proceeds benefitting Edmarc. We are thankful for our long-time friendship and appreciate everything you all do for the Edmarc kids and families!
We took a short break from our daily responsibilities to celebrate Nurses’ Week, Volunteer Appreciation, Administrative Professionals Day, and Birthdays! These ladies spend countless hours caring for children and families, spreading the message of Edmarc and so much more! We are blessed to have each and every one of them on our team!
