What Happened at Edmarc in May

The month of May was jammed packed with events and speaking engagements.  Edmarc, truly has the BEST supporters.  Without the help of so many, we would not be able to provide the care and support the Edmarc families need.

Special thanks to the Tidewater Officer’s Spouses’ Association for presenting a check for $2,500 to support our work with Edmarc military families!  On average a third of our population are military, so the support of groups like TOSA is so important.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Edmarc participated in Give Local 757 Campaign this year, which raised over $2,000!  We want to give a very special shout out to our Edmarc Board of Directors for helping us win an additional $757 because we had 100% board participation during the event!  We have the BEST board members!!

The Portsmouth Police Department stopped by this month and traded in their squad cars for bicycles.  They donated 11 bikes for our kids!  We continue to be amazed at their dedication in support of our community!

Did you know, Edmarc is a certified United Way agency?  Through designations, individuals in the community can donate to Edmarc through your local United Way Campaign.  Consider Edmarc this year during your companies United Way Campaigns; our staff and volunteers are available to come and speak to your employees about Edmarc and the important                                                                                                                                               work we do for the community.

This month we also celebrated our nurses’.  The Edmarc nursing staff is dedicated to providing the best possible care our kids need and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  We have been blessed to have such skilled and talented nurses who provide high quality care and lots of love too.

On May 22nd we held our Annual Meeting for the Edmarc Board of Directors and Foundation Trustees.  Each year this meeting is an opportunity for us to look back on our many accomplishments and set strategy for the future.  It also serves to recognize board members for their service as well as bring on new members.  This year Debbie Harbin and Steve Reader will step down off the board.  Both of these individuals have dedicated so much of their time, energy, and resources to our organization.  And, although they are no longer on the board, they will still be active volunteers for years to come!  We just want to take this time to say thank both of them; for their dedication to making                                                                                           sure terminally ill children and their families get the care they need in the comfort                                                                                            of their own homes.
