What Happened at Edmarc in January

Now that the busy holidays have come and gone, 2017 promises to be just as or more eventful.  Despite a few snow days, our staff and volunteers still filled their days and nights with caring for children and families, fundraisers, speaking events, and much more!

First off, we just want to give a HUGE shout out to our volunteers!  Our volunteers help in many different ways; whether volunteering around the office, helping out in a family’s home, serving on a fundraising committee or in a leadership capacity, their hard work and dedication continue to amaze us!

Our golf committee met to start planning our 21st Annual Edmarc Charity Golf Classic which is scheduled for Thursday, August, 17th at Cypress Creek Golfer’s Club in Smithfield.  For more information please contact Shantel at sthomas@edmarc.org

As many of you know, the Gosport Arts Festival has been one of our many fundraisers over the years.  The Gosport committee is comprised of Edmarc staff and volunteers.  This three day festival has been happening for over 46 years.  Due to several factors, but mainly because of important obligations several committee members have this spring, the committee felt it was a good time to re-evaluate the event and potentially return with a bigger and better one.  Our goal is to maintain the integrity and professionalism Gosport represents.  Stay tuned for more information.

Did you know, Edmarc is a certified United Way agency?  Through designations, individuals in the community can donate to Edmarc through your local United Way Campaign.  On January 18th the United Way of the Virginia Peninsula held a celebration luncheon to thank not only the community supporters but their partner agencies. We want to give a special thanks to the UWVP staff for including us in such an important day.

On January 19th the Edmarc Board of Directors and staff got together for our annual staff/board holiday luncheon.  The staff would like to take this time to thank each of our amazing board members for taking time out of their busy schedules to spend the afternoon with us.  We truly appreciate your support!  And, thank you ALL for the amazing Christmas gifts.  We love you!

On January 27th the Tidal Waves Square and Round Dance Club held their annual benefit dance for Edmarc.  Thank you to G.T. and the gang for continuing to think of our Edmarc kids and families.  Your support means the world to us!

Special thanks to Alexander Baptist Church, the Junior Women’s Club of Williamsburg, the United Way of Virginia Peninsula Board of Directors, and the Denbigh Kiwanis for inviting us to join you and share the Edmarc story.  We truly appreciate ALL your love and support.
