What Happened at Edmarc in April

All we can say is WOW!  This month was jammed packed with family and friends events, third party fundraisers, and speaking engagements.  We cannot thank our staff and volunteers enough for their hard work and dedication to our organization.

On April 1st KPMG and Chick-Fil-A of Frederick Blvd. sponsored our Annual Spring Fling.  Our AMAZING volunteers created one-of-a-kind games for our Edmarc kids to enjoy.  The Portsmouth Police, Fire and Rescue and U.S. Coast Guard all came out and brought vehicles for our kids see!  The Easter Bunny and our very own Wags the Dog made special appearances during our Easter egg hunt where over 500 candy filled eggs had been donated by the community!  We also need to give a special thanks to Sarah Lovell of Lovell Productions for capturing these precious moments for our families.  We cannot thank everyone who helped make this event successful enough.  We truly appreciate you all.

The Honorable Order of the Blue Goose held their Annual Golf Tournament and the Norfolk Sertoma held their Spring Fever this month.  Thank you for continued to support Edmarc!

We have got to give a HUGE shout out to ALL of the sponsors in the community who donated Easter baskets and Easter basket supplies!  You helped ensure 300 Edmarc kids got Easter baskets!!!  We cannot thank you all enough.  Special thanks to all of the volunteers who got to deliver these baskets on April 8th!

You do not want to miss our 21st Annual Edmarc Charity Golf Classic scheduled for Thursday, August, 17th at Cypress Creek Golfer’s Club in Smithfield.  For more information please contact Shantel at sthomas@edmarc.org

Special thanks to Women on a Mission, the Poquoson Kiwanis, and the Women of the Norfolk Presby for inviting us to share the mission of Edmarc with your groups.

Did you know, Edmarc is a certified United Way agency?  Through designations, individuals in the community can donate to Edmarc through your local United Way Campaign.  Consider Edmarc this year during your companies United Way Campaigns; our staff and volunteers are available to come and speak to your employees about Edmarc and the important work we do for the community.

This month, we celebrated a very special group of people.  Edmarc would not be able to provide the support we do to our families without our volunteers.  Our volunteer force is strong and dedicated and ensures our families get all of the help they need during what is the most difficult time in their lives.  We are honored so many would choose to give of their time to our organization.  Volunteer Recognition Week is so important and on April 26th, we celebrated these very important people at the Women’s Club of Portsmouth.  It was a beautiful event where over 60 volunteers, friends, and family joined us for an evening of conversation, food, and most importantly, recognition.  If you would like to become an Edmarc volunteer our next volunteer orientation is on May 31st.   Please email Kristen, our Community                                                                                                         Resource Coordinator at jonesk@edmarc.org
