Capital Group, founded in 1931, is one of the most experienced and successful investment management firms in the world. The entire Capital Group organization is aligned behind one mission: Deliver superior, long-term investment results and service to our clients.

Today, Capital manages assets in excess of $1.3 trillion on behalf of institutional clients and individual investors through services that include mutual funds, separately managed accounts and private equity funds. Through the American Funds, Capital helps more than 50 million investors in the U.S. reach their financial goals. Outside the U.S., Capital manages funds for institutional clients and individual investors across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Within the industry, Capital has a reputation for operating responsibly and with a long-term, client-oriented focus.

More than 7,300 associates, working in 25 offices around the world, are focused each day on doing what’s right for our clients and investors. We have operated a customer service center here in Hampton Roads for over 23 years, employing almost 600 associates. Working from a set of core values — integrity, accountability, rigorous analysis, respect for individuals, consistency, long-term focus, humility and collaboration — each associate plays an essential role in the company’s continued success.

Each year, Capital Group associates personally support more than 2,000 nonprofit organizations through donations and volunteer work. In turn, Capital Group and its charitable foundation enhance that support with funding in the form of grants and matching gifts. During the past 10 years, we’ve contributed more than $240 million to charitable organizations around the world.

Miller Oil Foundation

The Miller Oil Foundation supports community initiatives throughout Hampton Roads by engaging Miller’s employees, customers and family members in enthusiastic and meaningful giving.

The Foundation was created in January 2004 as an organized system through which the Miller family of Miller Oil Company could help local charities. Originally, the foundation supported mostly charities that served children’s needs; however, as its giving has grown, the foundation now supports a diverse group of interests.

Deanne Miller, who served in many capacities as a King’s Daughter to support the children’s hospital, and her husband Gus share a lifelong commitment to community service. Through their own personal experiences of volunteering and serving others, the Millers have inspired the next generation to get involved. Miller family members continue to serve on the foundation’s Board of Directors and oversees its charitable giving.

The Millers’ commitment to service is also reflected in the employees of Miller Oil Company. Each year, employees support the foundation’s biggest fundraiser The Miller Oil Foundation Charity Golf Classic as volunteers. They also participate in an annual employee day of service, canister collections for charity, and a food drive. Its most well-known fundraiser is the Hearts of Hope campaign held in Virginia Miller’s stores each January through February 14.

The Miller Oil Foundation supports local charities through its grants program. Last year’s grantees included:

* Edmarc Hospice for Children Camp MAGIC

* St. Mary’s Home

* CHKD Child Abuse Center

* Lee’s Friends
